What is a quartz flooring system?
A quartz floor is a multi-layer resinous flooring system. Naturally colored quartz aggregate is broadcast into a resinous base coat, then sealed in place with a grout coat and a protective topcoat. The result is a fully encapsulated, non-porous, seamless surface. The aggregate provides traction. The resin layers make the floor moisture-resistant and chemical-resistant. The full system is built for wet use and sanitation environments.

How much does a quartz floor cost?
Pricing depends on square footage, slab condition, the prep work required, the resin chemistry selected, the texture level (more aggressive textures use more aggregate), the topcoat specification, and how complex the layout is. Quartz flooring costs more per square foot than basic concrete coatings because of the multi-layer build, but it lasts much longer in heavy cleaning environments. How does quartz flooring help with bathroom and kitchen odors?
Most odors in commercial bathrooms and kitchens come from the floor itself. Liquids, grease, and organic matter soak into porous flooring materials, failing grout lines, or worn-out coatings, and they stay there. A quartz system is fully sealed and non-porous, so liquids cannot penetrate the surface. There are no grout lines or seams where bacteria and moisture can collect. When properly applied and maintained, quartz flooring significantly reduces the odor problems caused by floor-trapped contamination.

Can a quartz floor be applied in an operating commercial kitchen?
In most cases yes, with planning. Quartz flooring requires the slab to be cleaned, prepped, and dried before the coating is applied, which means the kitchen has to be out of service during the project. We coordinate with operations to schedule the work during off-hours, weekend closures, or planned shutdowns. We walk you through the timeline during your estimate so you can plan around it.

How long does a quartz floor last in heavy-cleaning environments?
Service life depends on traffic, the specific resin chemistry chosen, the cleaning chemicals used daily, and how aggressively the floor is cleaned. A properly applied quartz system in a high-volume commercial kitchen can perform for 10 to 15 years or more before needing recoating. Floor failures in these environments typically come from skipped substrate prep, the wrong resin chemistry for the cleaners being used, or inadequate texture in slip-prone areas.

When is quartz flooring NOT the right system?
If your space is dry, low-traffic, or aesthetic-driven, quartz is the wrong system. The textured, industrial appearance is built for sanitation, not design. Office floors, residential interiors, and showrooms are better served by polished concrete, microcement, flake systems, or other coatings depending on what you actually need. We will tell you that during the estimate.

How do I clean and maintain a quartz floor?
Routine cleaning with neutral pH or commercial-grade cleaners. The non-porous surface releases dirt and contamination during cleaning instead of absorbing it. High-pressure wash-downs are tolerated when the system is specified for that use. The maintenance program is much simpler than tile or vinyl because there are no grout lines to scrub and no joints where dirt collects. We build a recommended cleaning schedule into the original estimate.
